From February 9th we will be selling our bread and chocolate treats at Fowlmere market on the second Saturday of each month in the village hall (SG8 7RY). There is a good range of food stalls and crafts with hot drinks and food on sale as well as produce and it is open from 9 until 12 noon.
A few months ago I was approached by a lady at Bassingbourn market to ask if I would run an evening event for the Ladies Circle and, later in February we will welcome about 14 ladies to an evening of bread making. We will be focusing on shaping, plaiting and stuffed breads so that tasty, good looking products can be made for dinner parties or family meals. Would make an interesting team building event too.

In February we are going to run a course entitled ‘bagels, buns and more’ with the emphasis on making really attractive loaves, rolls and buns Including Chelsea buns below) etc with a range of fillings and flavourings; more detail under Courses.
Before Easter, we shall run a course focused on Easter breads including some really pretty bread from Italy with dyed Easter eggs, the Polish Babka (bit like Panettone) and, of course, hot cross buns.
Our Panettone went down a storm, partly thanks to the home made candied peel which I can thoroughly recommend. The bread was not as full of air as shop bought but was delicious lightly toasted with a little butter. Stollen sold so well we didn’t have any for ourselves. Gearing up for our first course of the year, most likely early Feb.: ‘Bagels, buns and more’ which will feature much more plaiting, swirling and stuffing to create some great bread for entertaining and meals in one.
