What do a Brazilian, Cuban, Australian and Zimbabwean have in common?

They all wanted to learn how to make Panettone and produced some impressive loaves considering some had never baked bread before:

As well as Panettone they got to grips with Focaccia and our swirls and these looked superb and went down very well with friends and family that evening!

Feedback was very positive:

“Totally recommend this course, learned the mysteries of Panetttone and had a wonderful time.”

“Fabulous day, thank you!  As a novice breadmaker, I learned a lot and had great fun and we made a tonne of bread!  Thanks for your welcome hospitality and lovely lunch and afternoon tea”

We are running one more Panettone course 7 December but this course is full but we do have one place available on our sourdough, focaccia and swirl course this Saturday.  After Christmas, courses will start up again in February.

Sourdough course, one place left

This Saturday we are running the first of several courses on making Panettone, complete with sweet sourdough starter, upside down cooling etc.  We will also be tackling focaccia and swirls.  The following week, Nov 30th, we are running a course on hydrated doughs: focaccia, ciabatta and sourdough and have one place left if you want to join us.  This is Robins’ sourdough loaf following his course with us earlier in the year.

Musical family fun

Our choir mistress Penny Manser (http://popupopera.co.uk/about-us and http://www.ujustsing.org.uk/) brought her sister and father to a course on Saturday, all with limited experience of bread making and turned out an impressive array of loafs, rolls, plaits and swirls:

Plenty of fun along the way with Rosie kneading her dough Nigella style and Penny not entirely getting the concept of rectangle when it came to rolling out.  Meanwhile, Rogers’ spiced apple and marzipan swirl gave him the status of star baker.

Now we don’t attend Shepreth market on the last Saturday we have room for another course and already have one place booked on a Sourdough course 30 November.  We shall also be tackling other hydrated or wet doughs such as focaccia and ciabatta and may include Panettone too since it is close to Christmas and this is another wet dough.  Contact us soon to check availability/book.

Three men in a kitchen

David, Patrick and Leo joined us last Saturday for a beginners course, making some great looking focaccia and swirls having started with a basic loaf.

David had not made bread before and was very pleased with what he produced particularly a giant fougasse with olives, garlic and rosemary and inspired by some thing similar Leo had seen on TV.
